The situation in Kathmandu, Nepal is starting to return to normal. Kathmandu’s Tribhuvan International Airport was reopened this afternoon after being closed for more than a day. The Bangladesh football team is counting down the days in hopes of returning.
The Air Force is trying to bring Jamal and Tapud back on a special flight. However, permission has not been received from the Tribhuvan Airport authorities yet. BFF executive committee member Iqbal Hossain, who is in Nepal, told Ajker Patrika, “The airport has opened. BFF is trying to get permission from the airport authorities to bring them back on a special Air Force flight. It is not yet clear whether they will be able to return today or not.”
The entire team also had a gym session at the team hotel today. Tapu Barman said, ‘Actually, the situation that arose yesterday, we suddenly faced a problem. We all understand the situation today and see that Nepal is very calm. The worries that we had, our families had, each player has spoken to everyone’s families, explained to them what problems we are facing and how we are now. I definitely think that we are safe the way we are now. Another thing is, we had a gym session today.’
Topu is hoping to return soon, ‘As a professional player and a national team player, training cannot be stopped for two-three days. In this regard, the coach has given us a practice schedule. We had a gym session this morning. We are 36 people stuck here. Hopefully, we will return home soon.’
